Why Thierno Barry is already improving as Everton's main man 💫
Everton's paper-thin squad has proved to be the making of Thierno Barry.
When David Moyes' side offloaded a host of attacking options during the summer window, the plan was to draft in fresh reinforcements alongside the 24-year-old.
Unfortunately for the Toffees, they failed to get any deals over the line as their manager was left with only Barry to rely on as a sole established striker option.
But the French forward has seized the mantle placed upon him at Hill Dickinson Stadium after opening the scoring in his side's trip to Newcastle United on Monday.
Barry netted his second goal in four days against the Magpies after Lukas HornÃcek had fumbled Tyrique George's initial effort just four minutes into the second half.
It marked his eighth goal in 12 appearances this season as well as a fourth in the Premier League, marking a considerable improvement on his previous campaign.
Even more impressively, only Manchester City's Erling Haaland has hit the target more in all competitions out of players in the English top flight than Barry's current haul.
Are Evertonians finally seeing the best of their once-maligned marksman?
