West Ham star accused of SPITTING by Millwall goalkeeper during derby clash

Millwall goalkeeper Filip Marschall accused West Ham striker Taty Castellanos of SPITTING at him during Saturday's Dockers Derby. The incident happened midway through the second half with Millwall leading 2-0 at The Den, where there was a charged atmosphere.

As Castellanos attempted to close Marschall down before he picked up the ball, the players got into an altercation. It was at that point when Marschall claimed that he'd been spat at and wiped his head with his shirt.

Referee Paul Tierney, who normally officiates at Premier League level, halted play to speak to Marschall. The allegation was reported to fourth official Lewis Smith by Millwall's coaching staff.

Post-match, Millwall manager Alex Neil was asked about the incident by Sky Sports and replied: "Obviously, I'm so far away so it's hard for me to see what happened, but I wouldn't presume Fil would say that without cause, if you like, so I don't know.

Meanwhile, West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo said that he 'didn't see' the incident. When play restarted, the away side mounted a comeback and quickly made it 2-2 through goals from Mohamadou Kante and Kostas Mavropanos.

Kante was then sent off in the 89th minute as he desperately prevented a Millwall attack. The hosts pushed for a winner in front of a baying crowd, but the two London clubs had to settle for a thrilling draw in their first meeting since 2012.

Millwall took the lead inside 16 minutes, as Caleb Taylor pounced at the far post after West Ham goalkeeper Mads Hermansen made two brilliant saves. Neil's side doubled their lead in the third minute of first-half stoppage time, with Camiel Neghli bundling home after a long throw-in.

Nuno made two changes at half-time, bringing on Kante and Pablo. The pair combined to score in the 74th minute and West Ham were level soon after.

Mavropanos scored his fourth goal of the season courtesy of Manor Solomon's cross. Millwall were given a lifeline when Kante - as the last man back - was shown a red card for taking down Kyrell Lisbie, yet they were unable to find a third goal.

The result leaves West Ham at risk of being knocked off top spot by several chasing teams later this weekend. For Millwall, they'll go into the international break outside of the play-off positions.
