Man United youngsters learn exciting opponents for Premier League International Cup

Manchester United’s youth have started the season in strong fashion.

Positive start

The under-18s have won three of their first four matches of the league season and sit just three points from second place.

The under-21s have also been impressive, sitting fifth in the league after winning both their opening fixtures of the season. United also started the UEFA Youth League in tremendous fashion, beating Sabah 5-1.

Nonetheless, the youth ranks have been rocked this week with the news that JJ Gabriel has fallen out with the club and is highly likely to leave the club in the not-so-distant future.

Premier League International Cup

The youth side will also compete in the Premier League International Cup, which will pit their wits against some of the best teams across the continent.

The club’s official website states, “Manchester United’s Premier League International Cup fixtures have been arranged. Adam Lawrence’s side have four games at this stage of the competition, all to be played at the Progress with Unity Stadium in Leigh.”

United will welcome French side AS Monaco on 30th October with the game kicking off at 19:00 GMT.

Italian giants Juventus will come to town on Wednesday 2nd December, and the match will begin at 19:00 GMT.

There is a pre-Christmas showdown against Belgian side Genk. The ball will get rolling in that game at 19:00 GMT again on Wednesday 16th December.

Finally, Valencia will come to town in the new year, on Wednesday 27th January at the same time.

The tournament is for the under-21s, but teams can field three overage outfield players and an overage keeper should they wish to.

If United make it out of the group stage, they will move into the quarter-final stages to be played in 2027.
