Manchester United worked hard on improving their midfield in the summer transfer window that has just passed.

Signings

The Red Devils brought in Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos in July.

They also signed Carlos Baleba in August from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Another target United tried to bring in was Leicester City youngster Louis Page.

The club were in talks with the 18-year-old’s club on deadline day but no move was agreed upon as a move collapsed.

Nonetheless, it has been revealed that United are still confident of doing a deal for the midfielder in the January window.

Page speaks out

The young midfielder opened up on a summer of rumours on BBC Radio Leicester and revealed his ambitions for the future.

Discussing the transfer speculation over the summer, he claimed, “it’s been a whirlwind, a lot of things going on, but I think for me it’s about concentrating on, I’m here at Leicester, I’ve got a contract at Leicester and my aim is to get this club back to the Championship and that’s what I want to do.”

Page added, “being focused and stuff, the manager has helped me loads with that, he said that he wants me to stay here and he believes that I can develop into the player that I hopefully will be one day, and I believe that he will get me there as well.”

Commenting on his deadline day inclusion in Leicester City’s squad to face Plymouth, which effectively ended his chance of a summer move, he responded, “for me, I was concentrating on, I knew I was playing, and I was like ‘whatever goes on in the background goes on, I don’t need to get involved with that'”.

Referencing United’s specific interest in him, he claimed, “I just took it as a positive really, if clubs like that are interested in me, it’s obviously down to what I’m doing on the pitch, so as long as I keep doing better and better I can let people do the talking and I’ll just talk on the pitch.”

He claimed his parents help him stay grounded and that he is just focusing on playing with freedom and as well as he can.

Finally, he added he has a debt of gratitude to Leicester as they believed in him from youth level and that he will do everything to get them back up the football pyramid.
