Goalkeeper involved in fatal Jesus de Miguel collision 'considering walking away from football'

The goalkeeper who collided with Jesus de Miguel before the striker's death is now considering quitting football, according to reports. Jesus Owono was in goal for Andorra FC when he struck De Miguel as he tried to clear the ball on Monday, November 2.
The Tenerife forward, 30, was left on the floor after the challenge and received medical attention on the pitch. He tragically passed away from "accidental chest trauma" the following morning, having been transported to hospital.
Owono, who was sent off, has been left devastated after the tragic collision and is now receiving psychological help from his team. He recently issued his own statement in reaction to the horrific tragedy. It's now emerged that he is considering quitting football for good.
According to Mundo Deportivo, he may walk away from the game in the wake of the incident. Ana Maye, a close friend to Owono and a general coordinator of the Equatorial Guinea men's national team, said to the Spanish outlet: "No matter how much we tell him, he's deeply saddened.
"He's very affected, especially for Jesus Miguel's one-and-a-half-year-old son and for his widow. He doesn't know how to handle all of this."

On the day after De Miguel passed away, Owono took to social media and wrote: "These are the most difficult days of my life. I struggle to find the words, and I find it very hard to process what has happened.
"I feel enormous pain at the loss of Jesus. I think of him, his family, and all the people who loved him. I know there will be many questions to address, and I will face whatever comes with the utmost respect.

"But right now, honestly, I cannot think about anything other than Jesus and the pain we are experiencing. Rest in peace, Jesus."
