De Zerbi tells young players to ‘remove social media’

Roberto De Zerbi insists that young players must “remove social media” in order to keep their feet on the ground.
18-year-old Luca Williams-Barnett made his Premier League debut for Spurs in their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace last weekend and played impressively.
The teenager was brought on for the final stages of the win, but caught the eye after almost setting up a goal for teammate Mohammed Kudus/
And De Zerbi was asked how difficult it is to keep players grounded in the modern era of football.
“I think the young players have to remove all social media,” he answered. “They have to stay focused on the improvement they have to do, on their teammates, to follow their older teammates with more experience, with more career and work hard.
“If you follow social media, one day you are top and the day after you can’t play. You have to be very strong, you have to be lucky to have a great family to support you otherwise you risk losing yourself on the journey.”
“I love managing the young players, the top players, the potential top players.”
